HMS ALBA.......National Port Company, EPN, to have new Shipping Fleet

http://www.elnuevodiario.com.ni/nacionales/258266-epn-pondra-operacion-n...

The last national flag shipping line, the Mamenic Line, was owned by the Somoza family. After the Revolution it became Naviera Nicaragua (Nicaraguan Shipping) but was declared bankrupt after the electoral defeat of the first Ortega government

However, the National Port Company, EPN, aims to have a boat ready to be part of the first (new) Nicaraguan flag shipping line, said the President of that institution, Virgilio Silva.

Traditional exporters felt that this idea would be a great achievement for the country as it would save "time and cost" to the users of this service.

Beef cattle, live cattle, milk and cheese, tobacco and coffee are some of the products that Nicaragua exports to the Venezuelan market and that could go for this new shipping line.

The official added that the boat EPN will have the capacity to transport 3,500 tons and will be used to export and import goods between Nicaragua and the member countries of the Bolivarian Alternative for the Americas, ALBA.

Silva said that the boat is being repaired and that work is being done with funds from EPN in the amount of $ 1.5 million.

Quinoa?

Maybe this will help me with my search for quinoa from Bolivia.

Cuba Too?

Instead of the the Cubans buying beef and grain from the US, they could buy it from Nicaragua. What Nicaraguan port will they be using?

Nicaraguan Port Traffic Increases

DSN May 3rd

The growing volume of exports has been good for the ports, especially Corinto (Pacific) and El Rama (Atlantic). Over the last three years both ports have seen a steady increase in container volumes and in 2011 Corinto experienced 23.5% increase and El Rama was 25.2%. In the last six years, the Arlen Siu Port at El Rama has increased volumes from 2.16 million kilos (2006) to 13.14 million kilos in 2011. Meanwhile, work continues on the proposal for a deep water port at Monkey Point in RAAS. If the project is given the go ahead next year, it will take three to four years to build the US $400 to 500 million dollar project.

So I am guessing El Rama for now.

Meanwhile, work continues on the proposal to turn my asshole into a duplicate image of Marilyn Monroe.

The news story was sound...
